A Month Full of Meaning
May is one of the best months. The air is warm, the flowers are blooming, and the calendar is full of reasons to celebrate the people and the country we love. This May feels especially meaningful — we have Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and something truly once-in-a-lifetime: America’s 250th birthday.
Let’s talk about all three.
Mother’s Day — May 10th
Every year, I watch people come into the shop searching for something that says more than a card ever could. A gift for Mom isn’t just a transaction — it’s a thank you for every meal, every late night, every quiet sacrifice she made without being asked.
Here’s what I always tell people: don’t overthink it. Think about how she lives. Does she love to set a beautiful table? A set of linen cocktail napkins or a gorgeous serving tray will make her smile every time she uses it. Does she light a candle the moment she walks in the door? Choose a scent she’ll reach for again and again — citrus, floral, or maybe she has a signature scent.

Memorial Day — May 25th
Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It’s a day set apart to honor the men and women who gave everything so that we could live freely. I never want that to get lost in the cookouts and long weekends — as wonderful as those are.
This year, take a moment to pause. Visit a local memorial. Say a name out loud. Teach your children why the flags are flying.
And then gather your people. Set a beautiful table. Light the grill. Pour something cold and raise a glass to the ones who aren’t there to raise one with you. That’s the best way I know to honor them — by living fully and gratefully in the freedom they secured.
America’s 250th Birthday — Semiquincentennial!
On July 4, 2026, the United States of America turns 250 years old. Two hundred and fifty years. I find that breathtaking.
